GIMME THAT CAR!

Reading Tita Emma's blog about James Bond reminded me of something I've always wanted to find out: Are the cars they use in movies REAL? For example, in James Bond, they had Alfa Romeos and Aston Martins (to name a couple) which we all know cost quite a fortune. A lot of action movies show 'expensive' cars, motorcycles, boats, etc. But what happens to them? They get BLOWN UP! They get WRECKED! So back to my question. Are these vehicles REAL? Or are they really just cheap cars made to look like expensive cars on the outside? Maybe the car companies make special "to-be-blown-up" models? Cuz really... aside from these cars looking super cool, why would they wanna waste hundreds of thousands of dollars (or maybe even millions) for a car that's just going to be blown up anyway? And they don't just wreck 1 'expensive' car- they usually wreck quite a few! I read an article about Quantum of Solace where it was mentioned that they actually used a total of 7 Aston Martins in the movie and wrecked 4! What a waste!

Is there anybody out there who can make my 2007 Tucson look like a BMW X6 or a Land Rover, maybe? Message me! :-)

  1. Ting,
Try asking your Ninong who works for Ford. BTW, I have a few pictures of those James Bond cars when we went to the Ford Museum in Michigan. Thus, I can say, I owned one Ashton Martin in a split second (while the picture was taken).

  5. Most cars now get blown up using special effects but its still possible to wreck them due to the risks involved while filming. Its just part of the cost of doing business. Tita Emma is right, for a time there was a James Bond artifacts area at The Henry Ford museum devoted to his movies. Aston Martin was previously owned by Ford Motor Co. but has been sold to a group of investors IIRC. I have not seen the movie but the Ford Ka and Mondeo (sister to the Fusion) were current Ford cars featured.

  8. Aren't you glad you have a tito who works for Ford?

Honestly, we should buy American cars. After all, it is in America (or Canada) that we found better lives, ain't it?

    kalidadis-ly yours,
